Non-Toxic Foot Care Routine
Something I weirdly get complimented on a lot is my feet, so I thought I’d share my foot care routine. It’s how I keep them looking hydrated, clean, and effortless. I also want to make this a non-toxic guide because so many products are filled with ingredients that aren’t great for you, like petroleum and other harsh additives. Since skin is your largest organ, I really believe anything you put on it should be clean and healthy.
I usually start in the shower or bath. I wash my feet with a non-toxic soap and use a pumice stone. Sometimes I’ll use the same type of scrubber you see at nail salons, but the pumice stone feels like the healthier option. I scrub until all the dead skin is gone and my feet feel fresh again. As soon as I step out, I rub almond oil into my feet to keep them from drying out right away. Once that’s absorbed, I put on my toe stretchers. I really love these and even got some for my dad because they help with his plantar fasciitis. Toe stretchers are great for relieving tension, easing pain, and helping with toe alignment.
While I have them on, I like to elevate my legs to get some lymphatic drainage. I’ll stay like that for about 10 to 20 minutes, usually while watching a show or reading. It’s simple but makes such a difference. After I take the toe stretchers off, I go in with a thick moisturizer. I always make sure it’s petroleum-free, and I like the Alba petroleum-free jelly. I pair that with cotton socks or silicone socks so the moisture really soaks in.
I also think it’s important to keep up with pedicures, either every two weeks or once a month. They make your feet look and feel healthier. Just be careful about the salon you go to, because I’ve noticed some reuse tools, which can cause fungus or other infections. Most of the time, I prefer doing my own pedicures and manicures at home, which I can share in another post.
Thanks for reading, and I hope this inspires you to add a little extra care to your own routine
Xx,
Madeleine
