My Fall Reset Routine

Fall is here, which means it’s time to do some cleaning and prepare for the cooler weather. I honestly love this season—it’s one of my favorites (right after summer). The air feels crisp, I can finally wear cute and cozy clothes, and of course, all the pumpkin-flavored goodies are back in stock.

Deep Cleaning the House

First things first, I like to deep clean my house. I start from the bottom up—vacuuming and mopping all the floors and deep cleaning the carpets. With a dog, this honestly feels like a daily task. I also dust everything from countertops to lamps, chandeliers, and baseboards. One of my favorite cleaning hacks is using special sponges to scrub the trim—they’re inexpensive and work so well.

Then I move on to the appliances:

  • Washer: Scrub with a Rubbermaid brush and dish soap, then run a self-clean cycle with vinegar.

  • Oven: Run the self-clean cycle.

  • Microwave: Heat up a cup of water, vinegar, and half a lemon in a Pyrex for two minutes, then wipe it down.

  • Dishwasher: Place a cup of vinegar on the top rack and run a normal cycle.

I’ll also reverse all of the ceiling fans and replace any burnt-out lightbulbs.

Decluttering & Donating

Once the cleaning is done, I like to go through the house and gather items we no longer use. Most of it ends up going to Goodwill. For things in my closet—like clothes, shoes, or accessories—I’ll either send them to ThredUp (an online consignment shop) or sell them on Depop.

Car Reset

After dropping off donations, I head to get my car washed and detailed. This might be my favorite part of the reset—it feels so good to start the season with a clean car.

Self-Audit

Once everything is tidy, I do a little self-audit. I go over my finances, check in on my health routines, and review any projects I’m working on. It helps me feel more organized and grounded moving into a new season.

Seasonal Restock

Finally, I order my supplements for fall and winter. Vitamin D and immune support are always at the top of my list.

And once my whole checklist is complete? I reward myself with an everything shower and fresh, clean sheets—the perfect way to end a reset day.

Xx,

Madeleine
