Chic & Thoughtful Housewarming Gift Ideas | My Go-To Realtor Picks

I absolutely love giving gifts, and housewarming presents are some of my favorites. There’s just something so happy and exciting about that new chapter in someone’s life. What I love most about housewarming gifts is that there’s no pressure to spend a ton—sometimes a simple bottle of wine or a beautiful hand soap is all it takes. Today, I’m sharing my go-to housewarming gift list that will hopefully inspire you to choose something thoughtful and chic for someone special in your life.

One rule I always live by is this: never show up to someone’s house empty-handed. I think you should always bring something—whether it’s a bottle of wine, fresh flowers, or even a box of pastries. When it comes to housewarming gifts, I personally avoid anything related to décor. I never want to take away from the excitement of someone decorating their own home, and it can be tricky to match someone’s personal style. Instead, I lean toward simple, elevated gifts that anyone will appreciate and actually use.

One of my favorites is an Aesop soap and lotion duo. I personally love this brand—it’s luxurious yet understated, and the products smell so fresh and rich. Aesop really is like the “quiet luxury” of personal care. From hand soaps to shaving creams to mouthwashes, they have so many beautiful options. I love gifting their hand soap, especially the version with exfoliating minerals—it leaves your hands feeling clean, refreshed, and hydrated. This set makes a perfect guest bathroom addition or just a little treat for everyday use.

Another favorite is the Williams Sonoma hand soap kit. It comes with hand soap, lotion, and even some dish supplies. This is a go-to gift for acquaintances, clients, or anyone I know will appreciate something practical but still elevated.

I also love putting together a combination gift: a custom wine tote (from Etsy or L.L. Bean) paired with a nice bottle of wine—or whatever their drink of choice is. I like to personalize the tote with their initial or last name. It’s thoughtful, simple, and doesn’t require much effort beyond ordering the tote ahead of time.

And lastly, the simplest but often most appreciated option: get them what they want. Don’t be afraid to ask directly if there’s something they need for their new space. Honestly, I love when people ask me what I want and then get exactly that. Not every gift has to be a surprise, and it takes the pressure off you to come up with the “perfect” idea.

I also created a Housewarming Gift Guide (linked below) with even more fun ideas, but these are my tried-and-true gifts that I reach for most often.

Xx,

Madeleine
